A message from Bolaji Adekunle - Director, Greenpeg Engineering

It's been 10 years!

It’s been 10 years. 10 years since we received our first purchase order while running our business from no physical office location – but my Backpack ,using no computer – but Blackberry phones, making deliveries without a delivery van but Okada and Danfo.

Several orders and services rendered 10 years later, we can only look back and appreciate our customers and partners who have been critical to our success on this journey.

As we hit the 10 year mark. The last few months have been a time for us to reflect, re-evaluate, re-strategize and pretty much hit the “refresh button”.

Indeed “Time Flies when you’re having fun”. We have taken time to ponder on our values, principles and priorities as a company. We have also taken time to recognize factors that have contributed to our success so far in a bid to develop renewed focus and energy.

“Time Flies when you’re
having fun”

There are 3 key take-aways we would like to share with you:

i) The PURPOSE is bigger than any one person:

An African proverb says “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. The purpose of Greenpeg Engineering is bigger than me or any one person. Our success over the last 10 years has been a result of the collaborative efforts of our clients and partners to achieve improved business performance and enhance agility.

We are driven by the trust placed in us by our customers, the ability of our team members to inspire each other and the dedication of our partners.

ii) Accept the challenge, then figure it out:

Not only do we live in a fast-paced environment, we also live in a volatile economy. As such one thing remains constant – CHANGE. We have had several challenges along the way ranging from unfavorable government policies, to rising exchange rates, to dealing with competition.

In all of this we have had to embrace the change first and then figure out how to deal with it later. This has further helped to shape us into an organization with a growth mindset. We have learned to experiment, move forward when mistakes happen, and to never stop learning.

iii) If you don’t look back, you will never be thankful:

This is a saying from my late parents , they did all they could to encourage my siblings and I to aim for the best but reminded us to always be thankful. Just as nature changes at such a slow pace that we do not realize so also growth happens slowly and we do not immediately see it.

Taking time to celebrate and make personal connections with our team members, partners, and customers who have helped us along the way is a top priority going forward.

In conclusion:

As in the words of Mark Zuckerberg- “Ideas don’t come out fully formed. They only become clear as you work on them. You just have to get started”.

Our goal at Greenpeg Engineering is to revolutionize the industries we serve in Nigeria. I believe in a new Nigeria, where change will be driven by the people and not the government as we explore the massive opportunity to take advantage of all God has blessed us with.

I invite you my friends to join us in this journey over the next 10 years as we would share our vision (which is definitely a bunch of ideas not fully formed) with you.

As I wrap up, I would like to say from the bottom of my heart – I am extremely grateful to all who have been part of our journey so far. It has indeed been a privilege and I look forward to the next 10.
